Art Show at the East End Food Co-Op!?

After applying to dozens of art shows this past winter/spring, I realized how badly I wanted to do an art show close to home.  I really wanted the chance to show my work and not have to travel hundreds of miles to do so and pay for hotels and meals out along the way.  I quickly began to understand its a big dream for a first year art show artist to have.

I live relatively close to Pittsburgh, and when the time came to apply, the only show I really wanted to do was A Fair In the Park.  (Yes, I know there was the Three Rivers Arts Fest, but call me a snob... it doesn't really appeal to me).  So, when I applied to A Fair In the Park and didn't get in this past spring, I thought to myself, "Oh well, there is always next year."

Well, turns out I may not have to wait that long.  My friend Julie sent me an email informing me about the 2011 Art Harvest at our local food co-op!  I was all over it when I saw it!  Not only do I LOVE the East End Food Co-Op (hot food bar is fantastic!), but I would love the opportunity to show some of my smaller stuff here in Pittsburgh.  Can you imagine... a show close to home!!! :)

It's not a large show by any means, but I kind of like that.  I wouldn't have to haul out my massive tent and set all my stuff up.  I would simply have to show up and display my work on a table the co-op provides for all selected artists.

I worked on my photos for submission today, and here is what I sent in when I applied.
I'd be selling my smaller paintings (they are about $60 each, and they will be framed) and canvas tote bags.

Peace tote!
I really hope I get in!  My close family and friends can easily come and visit, and I would have so much fun doing a show like this.  I'll find out by September 9th if I got in or not.  I'll be sure to keep you all posted!

I'm off to paint!

Peacing out,
Nikki
