This past weekend, Steve and I (along with our "kids," Camper & Pilot) went down to West Virginia for a short getaway. Our main motive for going down south was to bring our RV, otherwise known as Kate, back up to our house in Pennsylvania. We brought along some new wheels for Kate, and Steve got to work putting them on as soon as we got down there. Kate has been residing in West Virginia for the past 2 years, so it was time we brought her home.
While we were down there this time, I decided to take lots of pictures of Kate's homey interior. I figured I would take you all on a pictorial tour of our lovely home-away-from-home. I've described Kate to many friends, and while I think my descriptive terms are accurate, a picture is a much more powerful method to get my point across. So! Without further ado... onward to
Chateau de Kate!

The main door into our mobile humble abode. |

Come on in... watch your step--and the garbage. |

To your left you will find our comfy sitting area. The cushions are covered with a scratchy material, so I use blankets to cover and soften the couches up. |

And here is our entertainment center. The brown curtains are new...ish. |

Watch the dogs! It's tough not stepping on each other in this small space. |

Our upscale 70's decor kitchen. It's the first thing you walk into when you enter Kate. I didn't want to start there though... I thought it would have been tacky. :) |

This is our dining room, which we NEVER dine in. It pretty much exists to hold our sh*t. |

To the left of the dining room table is the toilet! Yes, the bathroom is about the size of a coffin. |

And the shower. It can't be used because it would be impossible to actually clean yourself in it. |

Once you exit the toilet and hang a Louie, you will find yourself at the wheel of Kate. Please ignore our grey plastic storage bins... they are a necessity to store our bedding since mice get into Kate all the time. |

And finally, this is where we sleep, right above the front seats of Kate. It's not too bad... very cozy! |
I can feel the jealousy coming from you as you view our vacation home on wheels! lol
I know I make fun of Kate (it's too easy!), but really, she is quite nice to have.
Really, she is! It definitely beats sleeping outside in a tent, especially when it rains. And believe it or not, Kate has improved since I've been with Steve (imagine that!). I've tried my hardest sprucing her up, but Kate is what she is. A 1970's Shasta RV. Steve loves this RV more than just about anything. Kate has taken him to Mississippi and Colorado. She has sheltered him from many storms. She has been his symbol of freedom for years. And because of his love for Kate, I can't help but love her on some level, too. She holds lots of great memories, and we keep making new ones in her, too.

The family! |
We managed to safely get Kate and ourselves home this past Sunday. She didn't make it easy on us, though. Steve broke down a few times. It got a little hairy in some spots (imagine this: going 25 mph on Interstate 70... yes, my life was flashing before my eyes). Kate is not a reliable method of transportation. We plan on finding a place closer to home for her.
So! There you have it! Thanks for visiting Chateau de Kate!
Peacing out,
Nikki
