Adventures in Babysitting

Hey all!  I hope this post finds everyone doing well.  Things are good on my end.  Yesterday, Steve and I spent the day babysitting our niece, Lily.  She is Amanda and Jimmy's (Steve's youngest brother) daughter, and she is so cute (yes, this coming from someone who really doesn't like kids). :)

Steve and I were a little nervous to watch Lily since we don't have too much experience with children.  We decided to take Lily with us to Rogers, Ohio, which has one of the biggest outdoor markets in the area.  Our main motivation for going to Rogers was to put new, affordable tires on my car.  It was actually a really good time!  The weather was perfect, Lily was in a great mood, and it wasn't overly crowded there.  (I was going to take pictures at Rogers, but I never got around to it!)

Once we got back at home, we decided to do some yard work outside.

And then we decided to chill out and watch some TV/nap.

Maybe it was because I worked at the pet resort like a crazy woman the night before, or maybe it was because I played mom all day yesterday, but I was exhausted by the end of the day!

Steve and I figured the whole day was going to be a good test run for us to see what it is like having a child.  We both agreed it wasn't that bad (relief!).  It's inevitable when you have a child with you that you have to be more patient and slow down.  Lily was teaching us that all day yesterday.  My favorite part was watching Lily discover and see things herself for the first time.  It's a lot of fun living vicariously through children, and it brings back childhood memories of your own.

So, maybe having a kid isn't as scary as I originally thought?

Anywho, happy mother's day to all of you mum's out there!  Have a great weekend!
Nikki
